Background and Inspiration: A self-taught Humphreys County artist, Ricky Brasfield enjoys the wet-on-wet oil painting technique to portray landscapes, textures, and dramatic color palettes that offer onlookers a different view from the usual perspective. In the last four years, he has produced 190 paintings and counting.

While fishing on the Gulf of Mexico, Ricky noticed the water seemed unusually darker than the other parts of the Gulf. He looked at the maps, and this is appropriately named “The Black Sea.”
