Our Story

Art in the Heart was established in 2018 as a committee in Dickson under the Tennessee Downtowns Project. With a mission to promote local artists and bring art into the heart of the city, the initiative quickly gained momentum within the community.

By 2020, Art in the Heart had grown significantly, leading to its transition into an independent nonprofit organization—allowing for expanded programming, outreach, and community impact.

In 2024, Art in the Heart Dickson achieved official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, further strengthening its ability to support local artists and enrich the cultural landscape of Dickson.

Through thoughtfully organized events that showcase artists of all ages and skill levels, the organization fosters a vibrant creative environment where art can thrive, connect the community, and inspire.

What Does Art in the Heart Do?

Art in the Heart hosts four annual events, each dedicated to showcasing local talent.

• Art in the Heart Jr. Features the work of young artists, high school age and under, providing a platform to showcase and encourage Dickson’s emerging talent.
• Art in the Heart Adult Highlights the creativity of local adult artists, ages 18 and up, celebrating the depth and diversity of artistic expression within the community.
• A Taste of Art A unique event featuring local artists in a beautiful garden setting at Moss & Embers in Burns, Tennessee—blending art, atmosphere, and community.
• Art in the Alley an artisan market experience in downtown Dickson, Tennessee, showcasing local artists and handmade works in a lively, creative setting.
